Therapy

"Messy doesn't always mean dirty. Sometimes it just means complicated, and complicated can be beautiful! Ask yourself, "How might I approach life differently if I had compassion for my beautiful mess?""

- Sonya Renee Taylor

If you are a person who lives with chronic illness, you may experience the pressure of constantly trying to fix something about yourself. Interacting with providers and systems may leave you feeling like there is always something more you "should" be doing. Maybe you're overwhelmed by the lifestyle adjustments that come with a new diagnosis. Maybe you're discouraged by years of chronic pain with no promising treatment options. Maybe you're depleted from trying to mask illness and keep up with the expectations of the able-bodied world around you. I'm glad you're here.

Therapy is a critical element of your comprehensive care and wellbeing. It is a space where all parts of you are welcome as they are; a space intended for you to find belonging and contentment. You are invited to bring your whole experience of humanity and illness - worry, pain, anger, confusion, fear, victories, desires, strengths, creativity, and humor.

Our work together will be built on the truth that you are valuable and lovable exactly as you are right now.

"Melissa listens with her whole self to truly hear what a person is saying. Not to respond but to give space to what they are experiencing and honor that."
